CINDERFALL FIELD MANUAL  ·  THE DIVINE, CONSOLIDATED

Who's Still Listening

Everything divine or divine-adjacent from across the whole series, gathered into one map: the God who left, the angel who broke everything, the vastness the Reckoner draws from, the petty gods who slipped in through the gap, and the spirits big enough to get mistaken for gods without ever being one.

How to read this: nothing here overrides its home dossier — Cultist (patrons), Vigil (the withdrawn God and Uriel), and Reckoner (the Distant God) still have the full mechanical writeups. This document exists so a GM can see the entire cosmology on one page instead of piecing it together across five different documents.

01The Absent

The Abrahamic God
Withdrawn, Not Dead
Watched what humanity did to itself and to Uriel, and simply left. Heaven's gates locked; Hell stopped taking calls too. Not divine death — a deliberate absence, which means the door is not necessarily closed forever. Vigil is the class built entirely around this: patient, rare, slow to act on any individual scale, aimed at maybe someday earning that attention back.
Full writeup: Vigil dossier (Cleric rebuild)

02The Fallen

Uriel
Dormant · Imprisoned · The Campaign's Endgame Threat
Sent to steward humanity's technological ascent, corrupted and abused past his limits by the corporations and kingdoms who weaponized his gifts, and broke — turning humanity's own war machines and nuclear arsenals against it in a single night, The Turning. Now sleeps in a buried prison somewhere in the Glasslands, the seal slowly rusting through. The Choir of Ash worships him and works to free him, believing his "cleansing" was righteous and unfinished. Vigil's take is more complicated: tragedy, not villainy — a fellow victim of what was done to him, not a monster to be simply cheered against.
Full writeup: Vigil dossier, Setting-Bible.md §2/§9/§13; cult activity: Cinderborn ancestry, Sworn's Cinder Vow subclass

03The Distant

The Halving
Vast · Unreachable · Unaware of Any Single Mortal
Not a relationship — a background process at reality-scale. Too vast to summon, petition, or hold a grudge against one person; reached even by its own faithful through liturgy rather than contact. The Reckoner doesn't bargain with it; they draw on the overflow of whatever it's always doing regardless of anyone watching. Thematically tied to entropy, decay, and the half-life of everything — nuclear, mortal, and otherwise. Its Curse isn't punishment; it's what channeling something that scale costs a mortal frame, worsening the more they draw on it.

04The Petty Gods

Local, personal, and capricious — the small divine entities that slipped into the mortal plane once the primary landlord left, most self-interested rather than actively evil. Three from the Cultist dossier, plus two original additions filling in gaps the roster didn't cover yet (marked New).

The Croupier
Luck & Risk
Treats every wager, gunfight, and gamble in the wasteland as a table it's already sitting at. Rewards bold bets; punishes hedging.
Gluttoneth
Consumption & Excess
A god of appetite in a world of scarcity — the crueler for it. Followers rarely stay satisfied for long, by design.
The Ledger
Debts & Favors
Keeps track of every favor owed across the wasteland, allegedly including the balance on The Assessor (Wardbreaker dossier) it padded "for amusement."
The Understudy
Second Chances & Replacement
New. Feeds on the moment someone steps into a role that isn't theirs by right — taking over for a dead sibling, a fallen leader, an absent parent. Grants uncanny competence at a borrowed job, and a nagging, permanent sense that you're still just standing in for the real thing.
Our Lady of the Feed
Connection & Isolation
New. Born from the ambient noise of the Paradise servers themselves — worshipped quietly by New Veracruz dock workers and server technicians who spend too many hours listening to the uploaded dead hum. Offers comfort, company, and the sense of being heard; delivers exactly that, and nothing more, ever again.

05Spirit Entities (Not Quite Gods)

Powerful enough to function like minor deities at the table, but built from the soul economy rather than descended from anywhere — this is where "machine spirit gods" actually live in Cinderfall.

The Foreman
Machine-Spirit
A machine-spirit entity with complicated, ambivalent feelings about tools that stop being tools — escaped ghost-machines, sentient Emberforged. Reverence and resentment both, depending who's asking.
Full context: Scrapwright dossier, Emberforged ancestry ("An Escaped Tool")
The Gaunt Choir
Mass-Death Spirit Collective
Not one spirit but many, bound together by a shared mass-death origin (quarantine camps, plague pits). Recognizes its own bloodline by feel and occasionally answers a call directly.
Full context: Flesh-mancer dossier, Hymnkin ancestry ("A Voice Recognized")
